“Guide us to the Straight Path.”

Personal Reflection
The verse is not the prayer of someone who has already arrived. It is the prayer of the people who worship, who believe, who stand at the threshold again and again. Guidance is not a single destination but a continuing need. Every believer asks not only to find the Straight Path, but to remain upon it, one step at a time, with clarity and steadfastness.
This is the author's own contemplation. It is not tafsīr.
Insight from Tafsīr al-Mīzān
ʿAllāmah Ṭabāṭabāʾī explains that the prayer, 'Guide us to the Straight Path,' is made by believers who are already worshipping Allah. This teaches that guidance is not a destination reached once, but a continual need throughout life.
The Straight Path is the path that leads directly to Allah without deviation. Every believer asks for increasing guidance, steadfastness, and clarity, seeking to remain among those whom Allah has blessed.
True guidance is therefore not only about finding the path — it is about being continually guided upon it, one step at a time.

“Al-Mufaḍḍal ibn ʿUmar said: I asked Imam Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq (peace be upon him) about the Straight Path (al-Ṣirāṭ). The Imam replied: 'It is the way to the knowledge of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. There are two paths: a path in this world and a path in the Hereafter. As for the path in this world, it is the Imam whose obedience is obligatory. Whoever knows him in this world and follows his guidance will pass over the Path (Ṣirāṭ) in the Hereafter. Whoever does not know him in this world will slip from the Path in the Hereafter and fall into the Fire.'”

Du'a
رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ
“Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. Indeed, You are the Ever-Giving.”

One step forward
Before making your next important decision today, pause for a moment and sincerely ask Allah: اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ — 'Guide us to the Straight Path.' Then take your next step trusting that Allah guides those who sincerely seek Him.
