Constriction → Expansion

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي

“My Lord, expand for me my breast, and ease for me my task.”

Sūrat Ṭāhā 20:25–26

Darkness → Light

رَبَّنَا أَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

“Our Lord, perfect our light for us and forgive us. Surely You are Powerful over all things.”

Surah al-Taḥrīm (66:8)

Lostness → Guidance

رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ

“Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. Indeed, You are the Ever-Giving.”

Sūrat Āl ʿImrān (3:8)

Fear → Reliance upon Allah

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ ۖ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

“Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god but Him. Upon Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.”

Sūrat al-Tawba 9:129

Forgetfulness → Remembrance

رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ

“Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. Indeed, You are the Bestower.”

Sūrat Āl ʿImrān 3:8

Despair → Hope

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.”

Sūrat al-Aʿrāf 7:23

Restlessness → Tranquility

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

“Our Lord, pour upon us patience, make our feet firm, and grant us victory over the disbelieving people.”

Surah al-Baqarah (2:250)

Distance → Nearness

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا

“Our Lord, grant us mercy from Yourself, and prepare for us right guidance in our affair.”

Sūrat al-Kahf (18:10)

Hardness → Softness

رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ

“My Lord, make me one who establishes prayer, and from my descendants. Our Lord, accept my supplication.”

Sūrat Ibrāhīm (14:40)

Brokenness → Healing

أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

“Indeed adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.”

Sūrat al-Anbiyāʾ (21:83)

Arrogance → Humility

رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ

“My Lord, inspire me to be grateful for Your blessing which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do righteousness that pleases You. Admit me, by Your mercy, among Your righteous servants.”

Surah al-Naml (27:19)

Weakness → Strength

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

“Our Lord, pour upon us patience, make our feet firm, and grant us victory over the disbelieving people.”

Anger → Forbearance

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِأَخِي وَأَدْخِلْنَا فِي رَحْمَتِكَ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

“My Lord, forgive me and my brother, and admit us into Your mercy, for You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.”

Sūrat al-Aʿrāf (7:151)

Unrestrained → Guarded

رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا

“My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.”

Surah Ṭā Hā (20:114)

Impatience → Patience

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

“Our Lord! Pour patience upon us, make our feet steady, and help us against the faithless lot.”
